Disney + launched their new channel ‘Star’ on February 23rd, bringing a lot of oldie but goodie TV shows back into our lives, such as Scrubs, and films including Dodgeball and Die Hard.
Like many, I was quick to search through the large new library on the streaming site, only to discover that the majority of the content is now considered ‘old’, meaning a lot of it wasn’t released yesterday, unlike the never-ending cycle of Netflix Originals that get poured into our televisions.
If you’ve recently subscribed, or are considering, here is my list of the top 5 TV shows you should definitely watch first.
5. Lost –
A bunch of people get on a plane, it crashes, they survive, the end.
No, it’s not that simple, its actually not simple at all. Infact the show makes no sense at all by the end, but that’s okay. Even if you just stick to the first couple seasons, watch it. I understand it might seem like I’m not selling this one to you, but I strive for honesty…
Following the plane crash, survivors have to adjust to life on an island full of mystery, in a location they can’t confirm, and face the wrath of whatever it is living on that island.
Personally, I love this show, as do many others; how else would it make it 6 seasons? But the fact that there are so many YouTube videos explaining the ending could throw you off a tad.

4. Family Guy/The Cleveland Show/American Dad –
Don’t sue me for grouping these 3 together, we can all agree they are too similar to spread through this top 5 list.
Seth McFarlane is definitely an expert when it comes to adult animation, allowing us big kids the perfect escape when the reality of adulthood gets too much to handle.
Each one follows the wild and problematic stories of a bunch of dysfunctional families, with random talking animals. None of the TV shows make a tonne of sense, but that’s fine because it makes sense. Make sense? Cool.
Whether it’s the talking dog, businessman bear or a dress up icon alien, these shows have it all for the people that aren’t quite ready to grow up and watch Coronation Street yet.

3. Prison Break –
Prison break tells the unbelievable story of how Michael Schofield helps his brother escape from death row by getting himself arrested.
Sound like a dumb move to make? Well, let’s just say that nothing Schofield does is stupid, everything has a reason behind it. The man is covered in tattoos, which we later discover to be a map of the prison, disguised in wild designs, hiding the map in plain sight.
A true explanation of what prison life is really like, from dirty, perverted inmates, to love affairs between prisoners and the staff.
My only fault with this series is that it can argued to be repetitive as the seasons go on, but it is definitely still worth the watch.
Rate: 7/10.
2. How I Met Your Mother –
If you haven’t already binge-watched this at least 100 times, what have you been wasting your time doing?
The tale of 5 best friends and the journey of Ted Moseby on his way to finding his one true love and bearer of his children.
The hilarious HIMYM is one of those comfort tv shows you watch when you’re sick or having a lazy day. I would best describe it as a more modern-day Friends, and everybody loves Friends, so go watch it.

1. Grey’s Anatomy –
Now, I might be a little biased here with this being one of my favourite TV shows of all time, but you have to trust me. They don’t get away with making 17 seasons if the story line is terrible, so that should hint at just how good this really is.
The story of a young doctor, Meredith Grey, the daughter of a highly respected surgeon and a somewhat dead-beat father, who starts her medical internship at Seattle Grace Hospital.
Here she meets her 4 best friends for life.
The story follows dramas amongst friends, love triangles and the tearful nightmares of illnesses and death. The combination works together like butter works with bread; it is simply perfect.
Grey’s Anatomy will make you laugh, cry, scream and probably cringe a lot of times, but it’s a solid 10/10.
